TFT Set 18 Wisps Guide: Every Wisp and When to Buy One

By PivotTFT · Updated 13 October 2026 · 8 min read

Wisps are Set 18's mechanic: one-off buys that show up in every other shop and give you something right away, from gold and XP to champions, items or a stronger next fight. Every one is a small choice between the Wisp and whatever else that gold could do. All 166 of them are at the bottom, grouped by what they give.

How Wisps work

  • Every other shop has one, and you can only buy it during planning. Leave it and it disappears when planning ends, showing the champion behind it.
  • Seven kinds: champion, combat, shop, gold and experience, item, risky, and miscellaneous. The game marks each kind with its own colour and icon.
  • Everyone sees what you buy: the Wisp's icon shows up next to your health bar, and next to theirs when they buy one, so you can scout what the lobby is spending on.
  • From stage 5, every other Wisp you're offered is a combat Wisp.
  • Polymorph Wisps, and since patch 18.4b Abandon Ship, only show in the first 2 seconds of a planning phase.
  • Below 20 health, the game stops offering the Wisps that pay off late: the stat consumables (Knick-Knacks, Thingamajigs and Doodads), Golden Goose, Major Gambit and Barter.
  • With less than 10 gold, from stage 4-1 to 5-7, you can be offered four free Wisps added in patch 18.4: Drizzle, Grove Armor, Returning Friend and Room for a Shroom.
  • Prices vary from Wisp to Wisp. Patch 18.2 made most combat Wisps 1 to 3 gold cheaper and let Polymorph Wisps appear only as the first Wisp of a planning phase; 18.3 made the Wisps people bought almost every game dearer or weaker, 18.4 changed several again, and 18.4b made Search Party cheaper (1 gold) and Three Me dearer (10 gold). The patch notes have every change.

When a Wisp is worth buying

A Wisp spends gold you could put into XP, rerolls or interest, so the question's always the same: does it give you more than that gold would? A few rules of thumb:

  • Gold and XP Wisps are the easiest to judge: compare what they give with what the same amount would cost you.
  • Champion Wisps pay off most early. A two-star unit in stages 2 and 3 wins rounds, keeps a streak going and saves the gold you'd roll to find it.
  • Shop Wisps need a plan. A shop full of one cost is only good if that's the cost you're rolling for: 1 to 3 costs for a reroll comp, 4 and 5 costs when you level for them. The levelling guide covers which comps want which.
  • Combat Wisps are for fights that matter: keeping a win streak alive, a round that would cost you a lot of health, or the top-four fights late on, when half the Wisps you see are combat ones.
  • Trades and gambles are for when you can live with the downside: selling your board for gold and rerolls fits the round you pivot anyway.

Tip Check your interest before you buy: a Wisp that drops you below a multiple of 10 gold costs you that interest too. The economy guide explains it.

Keep an eye on the other players' health bars as well: the icons show which kinds of Wisp each of them buys, a quick read on who's spending on their board and who's saving.

Blossom: the Wisp trait

After combat, your Wisps are empowered. Blossom champions gain Attack Damage, Ability Power, and 10% max Health. Its breakpoints change how Wisps work for you:
