Best TFT Comps for Beginners: Easy Set 18 Comps to Learn First

By PivotTFT · Updated 13 October 2026 · 6 min read

The best comp to learn first isn't always the strongest one. It's a strong comp that still works when you play it a bit late, with second-best items, or with one key unit missing. The picks below come straight from our live tier list, so they change when the list does.

What makes a comp good for beginners

  • It's marked Easy. On our list, Easy means the line forgives late upgrades and imperfect items.
  • It's in a high tier. An easy comp that's weak won't teach you much; these are all S, A or B this patch.
  • It has one clear plan. One carry, a target level and a short item list are easier to follow than a board that changes every stage.

The comps to learn first

Elderwood Aphelios S

Fast 8 · carry: Aphelios · Elderwood, Rapidfire and Fae

Six Elderwood units and the Elderwood Emblem most games put on Aphelios make Elderwood 7 at level 8: the plants, Stonebark Trees and a Lifebloom, come with the Deepwood Protector while Aphelios and Ezreal share the damage. One of the best-placing boards of 18.4b.

  • Early: Elderwood openers (Ornn, Xayah, Alistar, LeBlanc) are steady; hold Bows and Swords and a Spatula for the emblem.
  • Middle: Level 8 at 4-1 and roll for Aphelios and Ezreal at two stars.
  • Late: At level 9, Gnar joins the front line and makes Brawler 2 with Alistar.

Riftbeast Reroll S

Reroll at level 5 · carry: Pebbles · Riftbeast, Ravager and Invoker

Riftbeast 7 around two three-star 1-costs: Pebbles with Ability Power items and Cinderling with Attack Damage items carry behind Krug, Scuttlecrab and Sentinel. At level 9, Elder Dragon and Taric come in and Cinderling's items move to the Dragon.

  • Early: Riftbeast units are everywhere in stage 2: pair Pebbles, Cinderling and Scuttlecrab and streak.
  • Middle: Level 5 by 3-2 and slow roll above 50 gold for Pebbles and Cinderling at three stars, then Krug and Scuttlecrab.
  • Late: Level up once the three-stars are done: Brambleback, Murkwolf, Sentinel and Gnar complete the level 8 board. At level 9, Elder Dragon takes Cinderling's place (he counts as two Riftbeasts) and Taric takes Scuttlecrab's.

Blossom Ahri B

Fast 8 · carry: Ahri · Blossom, Hunter and Primal

Blossom 5 with Ahri and Ashe carrying behind Sett and Vi: a smooth level 8 line when Blossom units come early, with Sivir and Zyra adding Hunter, Primal and Summoner.

  • Early: Blossom 3 is one of the strongest openers: Karma, Yorick and Yunara.
  • Middle: Level 8 at 4-1 for Ahri and Sett, then find Ashe.
  • Late: At level 9, Gnar joins Sett for Brawler.

Invoker Morgana B

Fast 8 · carry: Morgana · Invoker, Vanguard and Riftbeast

Invoker 4 keeps Morgana casting while Sentinel, Hecarim and Diana hold the front, and Alune adds a second caster. It places well across the whole ladder, but a step lower at Diamond and above.

  • Early: Open on Invoker or Vanguard pairs (Pebbles, Teemo, Elise, Rakan) and save gold; keep Rods and Tears for Morgana and Alune.
  • Middle: Level 8 at 4-1 and roll for Morgana and Sentinel; Kog'Maw and Pebbles complete Invoker 4.
  • Late: Alune turns on Lunar with Diana and carries next to Morgana; at level 9, Taric makes Vanguard 4.

Juggernaut Zyra B

Fast 8 · carry: Zyra · Juggernaut, Summoner and Primal

Juggernaut 6 from a tank opener: six Juggernauts that refuse to die while Zyra's plants and Sivir do the damage behind them. It is played at every rank, and it places well at all of them.

  • Early: Yorick, Sejuani and Rakan give Juggernaut 2 on stage 2; win-streak if you can.
  • Middle: Level 7 at 3-2 and 8 at 4-1; Amumu, Vi and Scuttlecrab take it to Juggernaut 6.
  • Late: Zyra two-star with two Archangel's Staffs is the goal; at level 9, Maokai takes Rakan's place and Ashe joins Sivir for Hunter.

Juggernaut Zyra Nidalee B

Fast 8 · carry: Zyra · Juggernaut, Summoner and Primal

Juggernaut 6 with Nidalee in Sivir's place: Zyra's plants and an Ability Power Nidalee deal the damage while six Juggernauts soak it. It places close to the Sivir version and needs no 5-cost at level 8.

  • Early: Yorick, Sejuani and Rakan give Juggernaut on stage 2; win-streak if the shop allows and hold Rods and Tears.
  • Middle: Level 7 at 3-2 for Vi and Scuttlecrab, then 8 at 4-1 and roll for Zyra, Nidalee and Amumu at two stars.
  • Late: Zyra and Nidalee at two stars are the goal; at level 9, Maokai takes Rakan's place and keeps Juggernaut 6.

How to practise one

  1. Pick one comp and play it a few games in a row. You'll learn a lot more from five games of one line than from five different ones.
  2. Learn its items before the game. Know which components your carry wants, so your first shared draft and your first slam are easy calls.
  3. Follow its level plan. The level and timing on the list (like level 8 at 4-1) are the part beginners skip most.
  4. Copy its board. Open the guide's board in the team builder, or copy its team code into the Team Planner in the TFT client, so you can check positions in game. The team builder tutorial shows how.

Tip Losing with a comp is useful when you can say why: too low a level, the wrong items, or a contested carry. Each of those has a fix in the guides.
